DDP sometimes "disables" my keyboard?

I’m not exactly sure how to put this. Sometimes when I run DDP and the process terminates prematurely, I’d notice that I can’t type anything into my console anymore. I usually kill the Tmux session and start a new one.

What is this phenomenon called and why does it happen? Thanks.

Are you running DDP locally and it’s temporarily using up ~all available resources before crashing? I’ve crashed my laptop a few times in a similar manner trying to be clever with MPI.
