Multiple GPU or single GPU?

I know this topic is not specific to PyTorch. However, I wanted an answer based on deep learning researcher’s experience. I am in the process of building my own Deep Learning system. Should I opt for one 1080 Ti or should I opt for two 1080 SLI.
